Boat of Garten

BoatOfGarten

A small loch at Boat of Garten, adjacent to the mighty River Spey in the Cairngorms National Park, Highlands, Scotland. There’s an Osprey Center at this village (in the Abernethey Forest) — but at this loch, we saw pairs of swans and friendly ducks (who were partial to crumbs from strawberry shortbread).

Roadside Raindrops

NoWords

On the road to the Abernethy Forest in the Cairngorms. These raindrops are hanging on for dear life. What a great idea for decorating a Christmas tree — with crystal drops like water.

Exploring the Cairngorm Moors

Haunting landscape. Wildly beautiful. Subtle color. Magically fragrant.
Despina is investigating a road-side marker that we discovered.

A Royal Appointment

HRM-Appointment

Hmmmm. This gives me some interesting ideas.
Now, how could I get my own Royal Appointment from the Queenie that I so adore! I must tell her that the first thing I ever remember seeing on television was her coronation.

Mar Lodge on the Dee near Braemar

ML.Opening

Through the stables courtyard gate into the forest.

ML.OurApartment

Our apartments — all of the windows on the lower floor of this wing of the estate. It was a most solid and comfortable country estate built in the late 1800s by the Duke of Fife.

WholeHallway

My favorite part! Our hallway, from one end to the other, was guarded by these ghostly heads of the mighty red stag, mostly of them shot by the Duke of Fife himself.
